2019 Move-a-thon Results and Thanks!

We want to thank EVERYONE who gathered pledges/donated to our fall fundraiser this year! Together we raised $10,150.00 online and $1,657.66 in cash/checks for a total of $11,807.66, exceeding our school-wide goal for gross donations! This is a NEW RECORD and a FIRST for the Move-a-thon! And it means the kids get to see their teachers and administrators compete in a DANCE OFF in front of the whole school!! STAY TUNED for details!

Our proceeds from this fundraiser will go toward funding this year’s field trips, teaching materials, technology, fun community events and other needs right here at our own school!

Running our fundraiser is a big undertaking, and it wouldn’t be possible without the help of many people including volunteers, school staff and community sponsors. Please take a moment to appreciate our amazing team for their help in making the 2019 Move-a-thon fundraiser a success!

Move-a-thon Planning and Execution: Jeaneane McNulty (emcee, morning broadcast guest celebrity and benevolent mastermind), Daisy Valdez (my right-hand person! pledge receiving, incentives distribution, spreadsheet de-tangler, Spanish translation, and generally willing to step up and do whatever is needed!), Nelly Shaw (car rider donations), Francesca Jovica (flyer and incentives distribution), WBE PTA Board (shout-out to Dan Huff for receiving and processing donations and reimbursements as Treasurer).

WBE Staff: Eliza Gordon, Dana Green and Ashley Harshbarger (Leadership, promo, logistics and enthusiastic support throughout), Sarah Frias (Promo/Broadcasts), Amy Palermo (Broadcasts), Jody Farris (logistics), Amy Higgason and Yaya Silla (receiving & support), Cafeteria Staff (Concessions/Event support), Custodial Staff (Assembly/Lunch on Stage support) and of course all classroom teachers for keeping the kids excited, promoting the fundraiser, managing incentives and participating on event day!

Event Day Staff: Our coaches: Kelly Coad and Kathy Sanjar (set-up/tear-down support, all-day event spirit). Mirtha Garcia (Nurse/first aid). Jaime Castillo (sound), and our entire Specials staff: Stephanie Garfias, Susan Dalton, Frances Franklin for being outside with us ALL DAY LONG keeping the kids safe and smiling, including a BIG shout-out to our dance teacher Jme Washburn who once again produced an amazing student dance performance! And counselor Laurie Hulse for her great SPIRIT!
