Volunteers Needed

MOVIE NIGHT

Three nights a year we host movie nights at school.  Families are welcomed to come to school to watch a hit film, enjoy popcorn, snacks and fun.  Volunteers are needed to help run concessions at one or all of the events.

REFLECTIONS

This is a National PTA arts competition where students may submit their original works in the following six arts areas: literature, musical composition, photography, visual arts, dance choreography, and film/video production.  Volunteers are needed in November to help judge entries and in the spring to help with Reflections Awards.  We are also in need of someone to chair this event and coordinate communications with the WBE population.

INTERNATIONAL FAIR

We are proud of our diverse culture at Wells Branch Elementary.  To celebrate this we host an International Fair in the winter where families sign up to host booths dedicated to a country of their choice and ethnicity.  Volunteers are needed to coordinate this event, sign up for a booth and a chair is also needed for this planning committee.

HOLIDAY SHOPPE

The Holiday Shoppe is an event that allows the children of Wells Branch to shop for Holiday presents for friends and family.  Volunteers are needed to setup the shop, assist children in selection, sticking to their budget and checkout during the week and tear down on Friday afternoon.

SPRING FESTIVAL/SILENT AUCTION

This annual event is our largest FUNdraiser in which the school grounds are turned into a giant carnival.  Carnival foods such as hot dogs, chips, popcorn and snow cones are available for purchase or tickets.  There are grade-level games provided, inflatable moon walks and slides as well as laser tag.  Due to the size of this event over 160 volunteers are needed for the day of the event in addition to volunteers to serve on the planning committee.

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK

During the National Teacher Appreciation Week in May we show appreciation to our teachers each day with theme appreciation tokens such as snack day where students bring a snack to their teacher(s), poem/letter day where students write a poem or letter to their teacher, flower day, etc.  The week is concluded with an appreciation luncheon.  Volunteers are needed to sell flowers, bring a dessert for the luncheon and serve lunch on Friday. 

SCHOOL SUPPLIES

As a service to the Wells Branch community we coordinate with vendors to purchase and package school supplies per grade level at a reduced cost.  This program is not a fundraiser, so items are sold at original purchase price.  A chairperson is needed for this program to request bids, secure a vendor, communicate and collect sales to the WBE population and coordinate classroom delivery in the fall.

CLOTHES CLOSET

A district wide PTA program with the mission of providing clean gently used clothing and new socks and underwear to kids in our school district in need of free school clothes.  Wells Branch Elementary is one of five district schools responsible for scheduling volunteers to work the 4th Thursday of every month.  A committee chairperson is needed as well as volunteers.
