HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
We at the Wells Branch Elementary (WBE) PTA Executive Board hope everyone and their extended families had a wonderful Holiday break and a happy and safe New Year! We are excited about the New Year and all the events for the rest of the school year!
UPCOMING EVENTS
JANUARY
January 12 - PTA General Membership Meeting
Program Speaker: Dr. Jeevan Perera - Orion Project - NASA (Technical Manager to the Project Planning & Control Office).
Dinner for a small charge begins at 6:00 pm. Children activity provided. PTA meeting begins at 6:30 pm.
January 21 - Science Fair
View the WB students’ science experiments! Dinner will be available for a small charge. The science fair and dinner start at 6:00 pm. If you would like more information, or would like to volunteer, you may contact Jill Verrico at 461-5379 or email her at volunteer@wellsbranchpta.org.

February 9 - PTA General Membership Meeting

Learn about the different cultures that comprise our WEB family. Dinner for a small charge. MARCH
March 27 - Spring Festival
The 5th Annual Spring Festival is our biggest FUNdraiser. The planning process is underway, so if you are interested in lending a hand in the planning, please contact Tina Trimble or Emily Berver for more information. May 3 - 7 Teacher Appreciation Week

May 21 Talent Show

PTA NEWS
WBE is participating in the "Box Tops for Education." The more box tops we collect, the more cash WBE earns for purchasing items for our school. You can find the coupons on packages of Kleenex, Hamburger Helper, Cheerios, Cottonelle and more. Your child should put the box tops in the container located on the table in front of the school office. Our "Clothes Closet" is in need of boys and girls undies and jeans. If you have any questions, please contact Eva Bailey
at 527-3222 or email her at clothescloset@wellsbranchpta.org. Volunteers are needed for the clothes closet for January 28, February 25, April 1 and 29 and May 27. If you would like to volunteer, contact Jill Verrico, at 461-5379 or email her at volunteer@wellsbranchpta.org
This year's Holiday Shop was a success in two ways. We made over $860.00 in profit for the PTA, but most important, the kids really enjoyed choosing, calculating money and buying presents for their families. It was a great learning experience for them! Thank you parents for supporting WBE and thanks to all the volunteers that helped with the shop during the week! Also a big thank you to Nora Rosas for chairing this event!
We want to thank all of you for joining PTA for the 2009-2010 school year. Because of you, the WBE PTA has achieved the following Awards:
10% Increase Achievement
Presented to each local PTA that submits membership dues and roster for 10% more members than their previous year’s membership total to the Texas PTA office postmarked by October 15th. Previous year’s membership total is recorded in the Texas PTA office.
MARS (Men are really super) Award
Presented to all PTAs who recruit 50 or more men by fall due deadline.
Early Bird Achievement
Presented to each local PTA that submits membership dues and a membership list for 75 percent of its previous March 15 membership total to the Texas PTA office postmarked by September 30. Membership reporting begins April 1 of the current year.
Early Childhood Achievement
Presented to each early childhood PTA that maintains or increases membership from the previous year’s membership total and submits dues and a membership list to the Texas PTA office postmarked by October 15th.
Golden Apple
Presented to each local PTA that recruits 100% of school faculty. Texas PTA’s definition of faculty is: principals, assistant principals, teachers, counselors, and aides employed at the campus full time. Appropriate award form must be submitted.
